Monroeville is about 40 miles from Kittanning, roughly 55 minutes for us, most of it on Route 66 and Route 22. It is a 1960s and 70s suburb at heart, split-levels and colonials on rolling streets, with a commercial strip on Route 22 that lights up well.
Monroeville built out in the 1960s and 70s, which is why so many of its streets are lined with split-levels, raised ranches and brick colonials. Those rooflines are a specific design challenge: staggered eaves, a garage wing at a different height, and a front gable that carries the whole look. The design mock-up shows how the track ties those levels together before we mount anything.
The Route 22 corridor is the other half of the town. Car dealerships, restaurants, hotels and medical offices near the mall compete for attention from a five-lane road, and permanent facade lighting that shifts from warm white to a seasonal scene is a cheap way to win it.
