Monroeville is about 40 miles from Kittanning, roughly 55 minutes for us, most of it on Route 66 and Route 22. It is a 1960s and 70s suburb at heart, split-levels and colonials on rolling streets, with a commercial strip on Route 22 that lights up well.
Monroeville built out in the 1960s and 70s, which is why so many of its streets are lined with split-levels, raised ranches and brick colonials. Those rooflines are a specific design challenge: staggered eaves, a garage wing at a different height, and a front gable that carries the whole look. The Route 22 corridor is the other half of the town.
