Pittsburgh is about 45 miles and an hour southwest of our shop in Kittanning. We are not a city company and we do not pretend to be; we are the Armstrong County crew that drives in. Rooflines, restaurants, patios and game-day scenes, city and suburbs alike.
Honest geography first. Kittanning is about 45 miles northeast of downtown, so a Pittsburgh job is roughly an hour each way for us. We do it all the time, but we do it smart, grouping city visits with the North Hills and Allegheny valley stops that sit on the way. Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, Point Breeze and Mount Washington are all on the list.
City housing is different from the suburbs, and the design changes with it. Brick rowhouses and Foursquares in Highland Park and Morningside have short, dense rooflines where a single warm-white line does the work. Larger Squirrel Hill and Shadyside homes carry dormers, bays and porches that take more track and reward a careful render. Hillside lots on the South Side Slopes are a ladder problem we solve once with a permanent system.
Commercial is where the city really keeps us busy. Restaurants in the Strip District and Lawrenceville, hotels, showrooms and plazas want a facade that looks sharp on a Tuesday and goes black and gold when the Steelers kick off.
