Permanent, Christmas and landscape lighting in Pittsburgh, PA

Pittsburgh is about 45 miles and an hour southwest of our shop in Kittanning. We are not a city company and we do not pretend to be; we are the Armstrong County crew that drives in. Rooflines, restaurants, patios and game-day scenes, city and suburbs alike.

Blue house at night with permanent roofline lighting, wide view

Honest geography first. Kittanning is about 45 miles northeast of downtown, so a Pittsburgh job is roughly an hour each way for us. We do it all the time, but we do it smart, grouping city visits with the North Hills and Allegheny valley stops that sit on the way. Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, Point Breeze and Mount Washington are all on the list.

City housing is different from the suburbs, and the design changes with it. Brick rowhouses and Foursquares in Highland Park and Morningside have short, dense rooflines where a single warm-white line does the work. Larger Squirrel Hill and Shadyside homes carry dormers, bays and porches that take more track and reward a careful render. Hillside lots on the South Side Slopes are a ladder problem we solve once with a permanent system.

Commercial is where the city really keeps us busy. Restaurants in the Strip District and Lawrenceville, hotels, showrooms and plazas want a facade that looks sharp on a Tuesday and goes black and gold when the Steelers kick off. The same RGBWW system we mount on a house scales to a storefront or a whole block, on one app, with a service plan behind it.

Why Pittsburgh runs on scenes

No other city switches colors as often. Black and gold for the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates, red for Valentine's, green for St. Patrick's Day, orange and purple for Halloween, and Everyday Warm the rest of the year. The Thraxel app carries all of those scenes, syncs to music if you want it, and talks to Alexa, Google Home, HomeKit and Control4.

Three rivers mean fog, freezing rain and salt spray on every bridge approach. Pixels in IP67 marine-grade silicone on 16-gauge wire are salt-tested for exactly this. Parts are warrantied three years, labor one.

We install permanent RGBWW lighting, seasonal Christmas displays, landscape lighting and commercial facade lighting throughout the city and its suburbs. Yes. The Thraxel permanent system uses RGBWW pixels with 16 million colors, and the app ships with a Game Day scene in black and gold that you can trigger from your phone before kickoff. Individually addressable pixels also allow chase and pattern effects, and music sync is built in. On ordinary nights the dedicated 2700K warm-white diode keeps the house looking like plain architectural lighting.
Yes. Commercial work in Pittsburgh includes restaurants, hotels, showrooms, office parks, plazas and HOA communities, all using the same RGBWW system scaled to the building. It runs warm white on weeknights and switches to holiday or team scenes on demand from a single app. Commercial service plans are available, and large projects are scoped directly by AJ on the commercial side.
Sometimes not, and we will say so. A narrow rowhouse with a flat roof and 20 feet of frontage may not have enough roofline to justify a permanent system, and a seasonal C9 install could serve it better. Larger homes with dormers, bays and porches are where permanent lighting pays off. The free on-site consultation and render exist so you can see the answer for your specific house.
