Freeport is the river town where Buffalo Creek meets the Allegheny, about 18 miles and 28 minutes south of our Kittanning shop. We light homes on the bank, storefronts along the main street and private docks down on the water.
Freeport is the southern anchor of Armstrong County, and the drive from Kittanning down Route 28 takes us just under half an hour. The town climbs from the riverfront up a steep bank, so many homes have one elevation facing the water and a garage tucked into the hill behind. Lighting a house like that is mostly about deciding which side the neighbors and the river traffic actually see.
The older core of the borough is brick and frame homes on tight lots, with the Butler-Freeport Community Trail heading out the back of town toward Sarver. Newer construction sits up on the plateau, and that is where HOA covenants start to appear.
