The named Game Day scene on the Thraxel Lighting app is built around that black and gold combination, which means the same scene that works for a football Sunday in November also works for a hockey playoff run in the spring and a baseball opener in April.
Western Pennsylvania's attachment to its professional teams runs deep enough that black and gold turns up on porches, garages and mailboxes across the region more than any other color pairing, and a permanent lighting system just gives that loyalty a roofline-sized version.
This post uses general team names and colors as common public knowledge about the region. It does not represent any partnership, sponsorship or licensing arrangement with any team or league, and no team logos or marks are used on any lit display.
Running it across three sports seasons
Football has the shortest season and the most concentrated weekly ritual, one scheduled Sunday or Monday night lighting up the roofline for a few hours before reverting to Everyday Warm. Hockey and baseball run longer seasons with more frequent games, so some homeowners set Game Day to run on a broader schedule during the spring rather than switching it night by night.
Playoff runs in any of the three sports tend to be the moments homeowners actually text us asking about the scene for the first time, since a deep postseason run is exactly when a neighborhood starts noticing which houses are lit for it.
Controlling it from your phone or by voice

Where the scene shows best
The main roofline and eaves carry the scene on most homes, since that is the section visible from the street and the section most people associate with a lit-up house on a game night.
Porch columns, when included as a separate zone, are a common add-on for this specific scene, since a solid gold or black porch accent next to a roofline that shifts brightness with the score adds a bit of depth without overcomplicating the display.
Fence line and patio lighting, when part of the same property's landscape package, can carry the same black and gold scheme into the yard itself, which matters more for anyone hosting a watch party outdoors than for someone just glancing at the house from the driveway.

What we do not do
We do not use any team logos, marks or names on physical signage or lighting projections, and Thraxel has no sponsorship or licensing relationship with any professional sports team or league. The Game Day scene is a color combination, not a branded product.
We also do not push the scene beyond black and gold into a specific team's full uniform pattern. Two colors, run across the roofline, is the whole design, which keeps it flexible enough to represent all three sports at once rather than picking one team over another.
