Clarion sits on its namesake river along Interstate 80, about 35 miles and 50 minutes from our Kittanning shop. Between the university, the old downtown and the homes along the river bluffs, it is one of the more varied towns on our route.
PennWest Clarion sits above the river on the west side of town, and the streets around campus mix older rental housing with faculty homes that have kept their original trim. Downtown Clarion runs along Main Street with brick storefronts that catch the eye from Route 322, and several of those buildings have asked us about lighting that reads well after a home football weekend or during the holidays.
The homes up on the bluffs above the Clarion River get views most of our territory cannot match, and they also get more open exposure to wind and weather. Cook Forest State Park is close enough that a fair number of Clarion clients split time between a town house and a cabin, and we get asked about both kinds of properties on the same call.
Clarion's location on I-80 also brings commercial inquiries, restaurants and hotels near the interchange that want their building visible to interstate traffic after dark. Why Clarion's river geography changes the lighting plan
River-bluff homes above the Clarion River see more wind than town lots, and older Main Street buildings have brick that needs a different mounting approach than vinyl-sided newer construction.
